By the decision of referee team, Turkmen weightlifter Yulduz Jumabayeva received back two silver medals in the weight category up to 45 kg and her two junior records 104 kg in snatch and 179 kg in total were recognized. Technical error of the referees, which happened yesterday during second attempt when she took successfully record weigh, has been admitted. According to the decision, cancelled results of the second attempt were counted, the award ceremony took place and Yulduz received deserved silver medals.

The first winners were defined at the World Weightlifting Championship in the capital. Our compatriot Yulduz Jumabayeva is among of them in women weight category until 45 kg.

Turkmen capital hosted the opening ceremony of the World Weightlifting Championship. This event became another evidence of turning of Ashgabat to recognized international sport centre and wide support of targeted strategy implemented under the leadership of the Head of the State for development of physical training culture and sports by the world community.

The World Weightlifting Championship in Ashgabat is unique as it is the first championship after the reformation of the weight categories of International Weightlifting Federation.

The Sport Hotel of the capital Olympic village hosted the Congress of International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) where key objectives of further development of this sport and importance of the world tournament in Turkmenistan this year have been discussed.

The World belt Wrestling Championship in men and women classic and free style in Kazan was very successful for our national Team. Around 200 sportsmen from 38 countries took part in the tournament.

First sessions of medical, technical, coach and executive committees of 2018 World Weightlifting Championship, which opening ceremony to take place on November 1, were held in the Sport Hotel of the capital Olympic village.

Final match for the second important Asian football trophy was held between the Champion of Turkmenistan for the last four years Altyn Asyr and existing owner of the AFC Cup Iraqi Club Al Kuva from Basra.

Sportsmen from around 100 countries of Africa, Europe, Asia, America and Oceania will participate in the competitions. Around 800 sportsmen, 300 coaches, 45 referees and doctors, 70 representatives of mass media and more than 100 employees of International Weightlifting Federation – 1,500 people all together, are expected. 201 medals – 67 gold, 67 silver and 67 bronze medals, will be contested. 500 volunteers from the universities of Turkmenistan were trained.

The World Weightlifting Championship will be held in Ashgabat on October 28 – November 10, 2018. Applications from 100 countries (9 states of Africa, 38 European countries, 29 Asian countries, 15 American and 9 Oceania countries) came for participation in the competitions. Therefore, arrival of 800 of foreign sportsmen and 1500 representatives of different countries including referee teams, journalists, etc. are expected. 500 volunteers from the universities of Turkmenistan have been trained for servicing of the tournament.
