World Health Day marked the solemn opening of the Silk Road Monument in the city on the Amyderya. The monumental sculpture, 28 meters in height, was built in the center of the roundabout of the highway and railway bridges over the Amyderya that were inaugurated in March 2017 with participation of the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The top of the monument shows the globe that symbolically unites highways, railways, waterways and airways. The facility was built by Gundogdy private enterprise that also built and commissioned the Turkmenabat International Airport in February of the current year. Only advanced composite and finishing materials were used at the construction of the Silk Road monument. The opening ceremony was held solemnly, with grand performances by creative groups. Public bike race and track and field marathon were organized along the highway bridge and the freeway around the monument.
