Car Free Day in Ashgabat on June 3

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov organized a special meeting of the Government to discuss the preparations for the important sports events to be held in the country - the “Amul-Hazar 2018” international motor rally, the 2018 Weightlifting World Championship and the events scheduled for June 3 that the United Nations Organization declared as the World Bicycle Day on the initiative of Turkmenistan. During the meeting, the President signed the Decree on the celebration of the World Bicycle Day and gave the relevant instructions on the organization of the events on occasion of this day. According to the President of Turkmenistan, given people’s numerous requests, the large-scale environmental event – the car free day should be held in the country on June 3. Minister of Internal Affairs I. Mulikov and Ashgabat Khyakim Sh. Durdylyev were instructed to limit the traffic in the Turkmen capital on June 3 starting from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Public transport will be available on that day. Moreover, the Turkmen leader instructed the relevant officials to attract the local population to practicing bicycle racing and to modernize the existing infrastructure in this sphere.
