On February 24, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received Minister of Economy, Trade and Tourism of Romania Mihai Tudose, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital as the head of his country’s delegation. During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and his guest exchanged views on priority issues of the Turkmen-Romanian cooperation in the trade-economic sector, having noted the availability of considerable potential for its deepening and diversification of the bilateral trade turnover. The parties outlined the industrial sector, high technologies, energy and transport among prospective trends of the partnership, given the large-scale regional and international projects initiated by our country in the fields. There are also good potentialities available for interaction in the tourist industry, whose development is given much consideration in both countries. In this aspect, the sides stressed a significant role of the Joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Romanian Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, whose fifth regular meeting took place in Ashgabat. Representatives of 18 leading companies had arrived in the Turkmen capital as members of the Romanian delegation to participate in the meeting. Possibilities of strengthening and establishing effective cooperation in a wide range of sectors were given consideration during the meeting. The parties have also noted that bilateral business forums serve as good stimulus to intensification of business contacts in various fields. As the guest said, the constructive foreign policy carried out by Turkmenistan and the favorable investment climate created in the country ensure high attractiveness and prospectiveness of the Turkmen market for foreign business communities, including Romanian ones, which evince ever-growing interest to participate in the realization of new joint projects. In this regard, Mr. Mihai Tudose has stated that Turkmenistan is Romania’s important strategic partner in Central Asia. Having stressed Turkmenistan’s readiness to consider the Romanian side’s proposals for cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has emphasized that our country, which pursues a course for the national economy’s fundamental modernization and implements comprehensive transformative programs, attaches much importance to adopting the most advanced world experience and innovative technologies. This also creates favorable prerequisites for mutually beneficial combined efforts. During the conversation, the nation’s leader and his guest also spoke in favor of further strengthening the cultural and scientific-educational relations as an important component of the bilateral relations.
