Junior National chess team performs with success at the International tournament in Tashkent

Turkmen National team performed successfully at the Western Asia Junior Championship in Tashkent of November 16 – 23. Around 300 junior chess players from 11 countries contested for the medals of the tournament in the age categories of 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 18 and 20 years. The medals were contested in three disciplines – classic, rapid and blitz. Our team has won five medals – 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze. 9th grade student of Ashgabat School No. 50 Azat Nurmamedov won three medals in the 16 years age category – the gold in classic, silver in rapid and bronze in blitz disciplines. Third grade student of National Institute of Sports and Tourism Jemal Ovezdurdyeva won bronze medal in classic chess in the age category up to 20 years. School student Annagozel Mekanova won the bronze in blitz in the 16 years age category.
