Today, the town of Magtymguly has hosted a meeting of journalists and media workers as part of the Culture Week. Meeting participants pointed out the importance of coming up with creative solutions and novel approaches in the work of cultural workers and journalists; of creating compelling literary works and poetry; of making impressive television and radio programs; of writing fascinating newspaper and magazine articles. Since this has an instrumental role to play in promoting the spiritual and moral development of young people and enhancing the country’s international standing. In the evening, an opera entitled ‘Aşyk Çanly’ was premiered at the State Drama Theater of Balkanabat. It was performed by the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater company. A delightful blend of captivating characters, beautiful music and costumes, the spectacular performance offers the audience a unique insight into distinctive folk traditions and rites. Both students of the Turkmen National Music Conservatory and famous opera singers alike sang the leading roles. The harmony of experience, professional excellence and young talents highlights the continuity between generations, typically maintained in national culture.
