And again Turkmen nationals scored a success in the international traditional karate competitions. This time, our countrymen distinguished themselves in the Prague Open Cup recently held in the capital of Czech Republic. The national team won 27 medals: 11 gold, 8 silver, and 8 bronze ones. Such high results enabled the national team of Turkmenistan to take second place in the team event, having yielded only to the host team of the tournament. Besides, the organizers of competitions instituted one more Cup – for the male team kumite (a duel). Here, Turkmen sportsmen did not allow their opponents to win even a single victory; as a result, the highest pedestal of honour was taken by the students of the National Sports and Tourism Institute of Turkmenistan – Diyar Hojayev and Rustem Annayev, as well as a coach and acting sportsman – Dovlet Berdiyev. Turkmen sportsmen were also successful in both individual and team katas (complex exercises), in the demonstrative and individual duels. Along with the within-said prize winners, the medals were also won by Durdymyrat Meredov, Arslan Atayev, Selim Myratdurdyev, Bairy Bairyev, Faruh Yoldashev, Oraz Durdyev, Roushen Hudaiberdiyev, and Orazmuhammet Durdyev – the alumni of sport schools of Ashgabat, Balkan, Mary and Dashoghuz velayats.
