On March 19, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Shevki Mutevellioglu, who was completing his diplomatic mission in our country. Appreciative of finding the time for the audience, the guest expressed his sincere gratitude to the head of state for the all-round warm support given to the activity of the Embassy of Turkey in Turkmenistan, which he had always felt in his work. In the course of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the Turkish diplomat exchanged views on the key areas of bilateral cooperation built on the principles of mutual benefits and a long-term basis. Scores of joint projects in different spheres, which have been already implemented and are under way now, steady growth of trade turnover between the two countries, active Turkmen-Turkish business contacts, regular exhibitions and business forums, serve as the clearest evidence. In this context, the parties highlighted a significant role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish Commission and the Joint Business Council as effective mechanisms of broadening and diversifying the productive interaction, developing its effective forms, given present-day requirements and potentialities. Having pointed out the priority character of trade and economic partnership, the head of state and his guest also emphasized the importance of traditional cooperation in the humanitarian and cultural field based on the historically established spiritual and cultural commonality of the two countries’ peoples. At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan thanked the Turkish diplomat for his significant contribution to the interstate dialogue advancement, having wished success in his further work. Deeply appreciative to the leader of nation of such a high appraisal of his work and warm welcome, Mr. Shevki Mutevellioglu noted that he was leaving his historical homeland – Turkmenistan (where he had worked for over four years) with the warmest feelings and good impressions.
