Turkmen sportsmen won three gold and four bronze medals at the Asian Alysh Belt Wrestling Championship among men and women, recently held in the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran – Tehran. Hundreds of sportsmen from over 10 Asian countries took part in the belt wrestling competitions. For the Turkmen wrestlers, the championship became a “rehearsal” for the V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts to be held in the Turkmen capital in 2017, whose program would include the medal events in goresh (national wrestling) as well. Judging from the results of the competitions, our compatriots are at their best. Students of the National Sports and Tourism Institute of Turkmenistan Garmammed Shamammedov (weight class under 80 kg) and Rejep Orazaliev (under 100 kg), as well as a female wrestler from the administrative center of Lebap velayat, a participant in the judo events at the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games, Gulnar Haiytbaeva (under 63 kg), became gold medal winners. Allanur Gochov (under 60 kg), Lachin Badaglyeva (under 52 kg), Ainur Amanova (under 58 kg) and Shirin Kubaeva (over 77 kg) were bronze medalists. In the team events, the Turkmen wrestlers achieved good enough results, too: male team - took third place, female team - second. As for the total score, the national team of Turkmenistan was second, having yielded to the host team only.
