The foreign Ministry of our country hosted video conference session with General Director of the World Organization for Animal Health Monique Eloit. Heads of the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection, State Association Türkmenatlary and Turkmen Agricultural University took in the meeting from Turkmen side. Exchange of scientific information in this sphere, improvement of legislation base and rational use of resources of veterinary service were the subject of discussion. It was noted that Turkmenistan carries out integrated work for protection of original and unique nature. In this regard, special focus has been made on formation of the gene pool of fauna. Issues of implementation of the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the World Organization for Animal Health on cooperation in establishing of zone free from horse diseases and provision of technical assistance for development of horse breeding, which was adopted in 2016, have been reviewed during the session. Large-scale activity is carried for restoration of national horse breeding traditions, selection and pedigree work for improvement of characteristics of ahalteke horses and their gene pool in our country under personal patronage of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. For this purpose, equipment and facility base of the industry is steadily improved, international cooperation with profile departments and competent organizations of the world is expanded. The role of the State veterinary service in protection of agricultural and wild animals and birds, prevention of different diseases, improvement of quality and provision of safety of livestock production has been noted. In this regard, special attention has been paid to work carried out by specialists of the Service together with experts of this World Organization.
