Representatives of different organizations participate in webinars under the aegis of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization

The FAO Sub-Regional Representatives Office for Central Asian countries holds series of training webinars on the Sustainable Development Goals’ indicators for ministers, profile departments and organizations of Turkmenistan, which achievement is coordinated by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Total of 10 webinars will be conducted within this week from October 12 to 16. The main goal of the training is to support on calculation method on the SDGs indicators and report development. Representatives of the Mejlis, various ministries including the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection, the Ministry of Finances and Economy, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the State Statistics Committee, the State Water Management Committee as well as the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs have been invited to participate in the seminars organized in video conference format. The achievement of the SDGs laid out the 2030 Global Agenda is one of the priorities of the government policy of Turkmenistan. At present, 232 various indicators, 21 of which are under the FAO coordination, have been specified for monitoring of 169 SDGs’ objectives. Taking into account the importance given to the Sustainable Development Goals, their nationalization and further implementation serve as the main direction for all government programs, strategies and plans implemented in the country. General review of the Sustainable Development Goals and global indicator system as well as relative activity of the FAO carried out in Europe and Central Asia have been presented under the introduction webinar. Further online seminars are dedicated the SDGs’ indicators related to macroeconomic aspects of agriculture, food abundance, water management and other segments of Turkmenistan’s economy.
