On May 7, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two states discussed a range of issues related to the implementation of the agreements reached during the telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping on May 6 this year.

Rashid Meredov and Wang Yi paid special attention to the preparation and holding of the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs in the Central Asia-China format, scheduled for May 12, 2021 in Xi'an.

The ministers underlined that the Committee for Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the PRC, which works in four main areas: trade, energy, security and culture, served as an effective mechanism of interstate interaction.

In this regard, the parties considered the issues of the upcoming visit to China of the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the co-chairman of this Committee to discuss aspects of the intensification of the Turkmen-Chinese dialogue.
