Today, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and recently elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Ebrahim Raisi.

Having warmly greeted each other, the interlocutors exchanged congratulations on the coming of the bright Muslim holiday - Eid al-Adha, addressing the wishes of peace, happiness and prosperity to the peoples of friendly neighboring states.

The head of Turkmenistan expressed his conviction that the holy Eid al-Adha, eternally preaching enduring humanistic values - humanity, kindness and generosity, will further strengthen mutual understanding and solidarity throughout the Muslim ummah.

Taking this opportunity, the Turkmen leader again congratulated Seyed Ebrahim Raisi on his convincing victory in the recent presidential elections and wished him great success in his responsible state activities.

Sincerely thanking for the invitation to take part in the inauguration ceremony of the President of Iran on August 5 this year, Head of State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that he would not be able to personally take part in the solemn ceremony coinciding with the date of the previously agreed high-level international event in Turkmenistan, with which a representative Turkmen delegation will be sent to Iran.

Thanking for the congratulations, the head of the friendly state expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to exchange views with the Turkmen leader on the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation that meets the fundamental interests of both peoples, since ancient times linked by spiritual, cultural and historical commonality, as well as to discuss some aspects of international and regional politics of mutual interest.

Noting the high level of established bilateral cooperation, the effectiveness of which is confirmed by many jointly implemented projects, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Iran was and remains a strategic trade and economic partner, with which productive cooperation is actively developing in such important areas as fuel and energy, transport and communication spheres, construction and agriculture.

At the end of the telephone conversation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Ebrahim Raisi once again cordially congratulated each other on the holy holiday - Eid al-Adha, and addressed the peoples of Iran and Turkmenistan with wishes of peace, happiness and prosperity.
