Today, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country general Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has held the meeting of the State Security Council in which the course of the activities carried out by military and law enforcement bodies, the plan of measures, designated in honour of Day of Defenders of Fatherland, and also the proposals prepared in connection with nomination of specially distinguished servicemen for state awards on this occasion were discussed.

During the meeting, heads of legal enforcement and military bodies reported on the planned celebrations and the program of cultural actions, which will be dated to the professional holiday of defenders of Fatherland.

Reports on the state of affairs in military units and profile establishments, undertaken practical steps for successful realisation of the large-scale military reform aimed at increase of defensibility of the country, strengthening of the power of the Armed Forces were also delivered.

Having heard reports, the head of the state noted that according to the Military doctrine, which has an exclusively defensive character, the basic line of activity of law enforcement and military bodies is to maintain the guaranteed protection of Turkmenistan stipulated by national interests and security.

Summing up the meeting, the head of the state underlined that, being guided by peaceful disposition and humanism principles which are a basis of the Military doctrine of Turkmenistan, which has a especially defensive character, our state consistently strengthens the material base of the National army. As the leader of the nation stated, the state will further care of maintenance of worthy conditions for service and life of military men and members of their families.

Concluding the meeting of the State Security Council, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country general Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished all its participants new successes in fulfilment of their responsible missions.
