Today, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Arif Alvi.

Expressing satisfaction with the opportunity to have a personal conversation, the head of state said that according to the outcomes of the Presidential elections held on March 12, announced by the Central Commission for Holding Elections and Referenda in Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov was elected the new President of the country. At the same time, the Turkmen leader noted that he himself plans to continue his activity in the capacity of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took the opportunity to thank the President of Pakistani for making great personal contribution to the development of a constructive interstate dialogue and established fruitful cooperation. As was noted, all these years the heads of the two states have worked closely together to expand and strengthen all-round relations between the two friendly countries and their fraternal peoples.

In this regard, the leader of the nation expressed confidence that the traditional Turkmen-Pakistani partnership based on the traditions of friendship, brotherhood, equality and mutual trust would continue to develop and strengthen.

Having wished the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan sound health, long years of life and success in all endeavors, the head of state handed the phone to the newly elected President of Turkmenistan.

Having heartily congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the newly elected head of Turkmen state, on his convincing victory in the nationwide elections held on a comprehensive and alternative basis, President Arif Alvi wished him great success in his important and responsible state post.

Expressing heartfelt appreciation for the warm congratulations and best wishes, the newly elected President of the country stressed that he intends to continue to follow the course started by his predecessor, Leader of the Nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In this regard, the readiness of the Turkmen party to further develop and strengthen interstate relations in various areas was confirmed.

Confirming the firm commitment of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to centuries-old relations of friendship and brotherhood, the parties expressed mutual confidence that the constructive cooperation established in recent years will be successfully continued in the future.

At the end of the telephone conversation, newly elected President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished the head of friendly state sound health and success in responsible activities, as well as peace, prosperity and progress to the fraternal people of Pakistan.
