24 October the presentation of “Turkmenistan”, a new book by President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, took place in the capital of our country. The new publication was a wonderful gift to our compatriots and many friends of our country on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of our Motherland’s Independence. As is known, first copies were handed over by the national Leader at the enlarged meeting of the Government last week. The solemn event held at Mekan Palace of Ashgabat Municipality was attended by Government officials, Chairperson and members of the National Parliament, Turkmenistan’s Ambassadors to foreign countries, leaders and representatives of ministries and agencies, political parties and public associations, academic institutions, media professionals, honored elders and students. Delegates of the XIX Conference of the Humanitarian Association of Turkmens of the World were also among attendees. The new book is a chronicle of 25 glorious years of state sovereignty of our Motherland. At the same time, the idea behind this new work was to cover events of the epoch of independence not only within the context of the history, but also of the future of the country. “Quarter of a century is only a moment of history”, this is a symbolic phrase used by the National Leader to begin the narrative. The past serves the present; it allows a fuller and more objective understanding of values of today and tomorrow. President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov substantiates concrete facts showing the economic progress of the country, increase in prosperity, social security of the people and implementation of major projects in all branches of the national economy. Certain pages of the new book are devoted to development of partnership with foreign countries and international organizations. The National Leader addresses the people by stating «There is no superior goal in the world than concern for the happy life of the people. If you were able to make even a small contribution to this noble cause, then you are a happy man. I am a thousand times obliged to my people that during this quarter-century way of life of our Homeland, I was honored to be involved in large-scale cases of national importance. « Documentalism and clear scientific assessment of 25 years of independent development period adjoin lyrical narrative. Right from the first pages of the book one may feel the enormous emotional message behind the contents. It is supplemented with numerous photographs. Photographic illustrations tell the story of the country located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, the country with unique nature and vast riches, with ancient history and culture, sovereign secular democratic state that is moving steadily along the path of progress and constructive development. As stated by attendees of the presentation, “Turkmenistan” is a book of great interest both for scientists and a wide range of readers, and stands as an important documental source reflecting the historical significance of Turkmen sovereignty. Speakers included people of various professions, who stressed the educational and upbringing significance of the new publication, primarily for younger generations. During the solemn presentation attendees were presented copies of “Turkmenistan”, the new book by the Head of the State. The exhibition on rich cultural heritage and history of our people was launched in parallel with the presentation. A special emphasis at the exhibit was placed on scientific and literary works by the national Leader. The new book “Turkmenistan” and its large model were put in front and center of the exhibition. “Turkmenistan”, the book by national Leader Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, was published in excellent quality at the Publishing Center of the Turkmen State Publishing Service in Turkmen, English and Russian.
