On November 3, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov on a working trip around the capital got acquainted with the situation in the Olympic Stadium, which less than in a year will be the main venue for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. The organization of the Asian Games-2017 to be hosted by Ashgabat is constantly in the limelight of the head of state, who attaches great importance to the preparations for the forthcoming major sporting event. ...Upon arrival of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov in the Olympic Village, the leader of nation passed into a hall, located on the second floor of the stadium, where the head of state was warmly welcomed by a number of Cabinet Deputy Chairpersons, the heads of some ministries and agencies, including the Executive Committee on Preparations for the 5th Asian Games, Ashgabat city Khyakim and the “Polimeks” Company head. This sports complex includes more than 30 different-purpose facilities that meet the highest international standards in all respects. Tablets depicting designs of a guest-leisure hall, layouts, and variants of the offered names for the 45,000-seat Olympic Stadium, comprising the Grand Sports Complex, were presented to the nation’s leader. President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov heard the relevant leaders who reported on work ongoing within the framework of preparations for the Asian Games-2017, as well as the test competitions held in various sports, included in the Games Programme. Summarizing the reports, the head of state emphasized that holding of international test competitions of commissioned playing fields, stadiums of the Olympic Village is of particular importance for Turkmen athletes to gain additional experience before the Asian Games. Moreover, these activities are intended to facilitate the attainment by our athletes’ of good results in 2017, the leader of nation said. In turn, “Polimeks” Company head Erol Tabanca informed that currently the construction of this major sports complex entered its final stage. Upon hearing the Turkish businessman, the nation’s leader made a number of comments and suggestions. In particular, the head of state noted that an advanced engineering and technical idea and innovative technology, as well as an elaborate approach should serve as the main objectives in this project’s implementation. The complex should be equipped with the latest installations and sports facilities and in all respects conform to the strictest requirements of international standards. The “Polimeks” head expressed the Turkmen leader deep gratitude for the rendered trust, and assured that all the instructions of the head of state will be necessarily taken into account. Then the head of state heard the reports of the relevant managers on the Cultural Programme, developed within as part of preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 5th Asian Games. Touching upon a name of the new stadium, the President of Turkmenistan said that it’s appropriate to call it “Aşgabat Olimpiýa Stadiony”. Focusing the assembled officials’ attention on the issue of preparations for the Asian Games-2017, the leader of nation instructed to take all measures to organize this major sporting forum at the highest level, and to keep under control all issues related to its completion.
