A regional forum of the World Health Organization was held in Turkmenistan

Today, a high-level sub-regional consultative meeting on promoting the Unified Concept of Health in Central Asia was held in the conference hall of the Yildiz hotel in the capital in a hybrid format.

The specialized forum, organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan jointly with the WHO Regional Office for Europe, is also attended by representatives of reputable international and regional organizations, leading international experts and specialists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The main purpose of the consultative meeting is to discuss the above-mentioned Unified Concept of Health, designed to help protect the health of people, animals and the environment in Central Asia, as well as to unite international structures to strengthen cooperation in this area.

The constructive policy of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to increase cooperation in this important area was highly appreciated at the forum.

Guided by the slogan ‘The health of the people is the wealth of the country!’, targeted measures are being taken in our country to improve the healthcare system, modernize the profile infrastructure, expand the range and improve the quality of medical services provided to the population.

Within the framework of the meeting, there were held such thematic sessions as “Understanding national priorities for the implementation of the ‘Unified Health’ Program in Central Asia”, “Partnership for Unified Health in Central Asia: uniting international structures to strengthen cooperation at the intersection of humans, animals and the environment”, to consider ways of establishing interaction between specialized institutions.

Particular attention was paid to the close relationship between the health of humans, domestic and wild animals, the state of the environment, including broad ecosystems.

In this context, it was noted that in order to prevent diseases and protect people’s health in Turkmenistan, the quality and safety of food products are strictly controlled, large-scale work is being carried out to supply the population in all corners of the country with clean drinking water.

The members of the delegation exchanged views with their Turkmen colleagues on the draft Roadmap for cooperation in support of health and well-being in Central Asia for 2022-2025, discussed the organization of regular high-level meetings to accelerate the implementation of joint agreements.

The forum adopted a Final document, which sets out the main directions for joint efforts of countries within the framework of the World Health Organization.

The meeting participants expressed sincere gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for his support in holding the current forum at a high level in the Turkmen capital, noting with satisfaction that this regional forum will serve as an important impetus for the further development of cooperation between Central Asian countries and WHO in the sphere of healthcare.
