Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Samarkand to participate as an honoured guest in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit (SCO), met with Secretary General of this international organization Zhang Ming.

As Zhang Ming noted, interaction of our country with SCO has a special significance, as the initiatives set forth by Turkmenistan in the international arena are similar to the goals and objectives of the Organization.

During the talk, an interested exchange of views of future of further interaction in the context of its key aspects and existing multilateral potential took place.

As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov pointed out, Turkmenistan has gained a rich experience in energy and is ready to share it. It is also ready to participate in join work for realization of concrete energy projects with SCO member countries.

Having expressed confidence that implementation of such projects serves an example of cooperation of Turkmenistan with SCO countries in energy, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to consider an opportunity to create the ad hoc working group between our country and SCO interested countries for energy issues.

The head of Turkmenistan also mentioned a proposal on creation of a temporary coordinating council ensuring well-coordinated and efficient work in transport.

Having proposed to create the business council “Turkmenistan-SCO” within the framework of which annual business meetings, exhibitions, presentations of economic projects will be held, the head of the state confirmed readiness of our country for constructive joint work.

As Zhang Ming noted, SCO highly appreciates a far-sighted and responsible approach of Turkmenistan to issues of expansion and strengthening of interaction in all areas of its activity with member countries of the international organization, having mentioned his intention to work further in close contact with our country.

In conclusion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Secretary General Zhang Ming expressed confidence that the regular SCO Summit will become another important step on the path of further intensification of cooperation of Turkmenistan with SCO countries, a great contribution in the strengthening of trust and mutual understanding in the planet.
