On the final day of the Men and Women World Sambo Championship held in the city of Sofia (Bulgaria), Turkmenistan won yet another award – bronze medal. The medalist is Novruz Atayev who competed in the combat sambo in the 52 kg weight category. The tournament was attended by the athletes from 80 countries. 10 fighters competed in the 52 kg weight class. Novruz Atayev defeated Gershon Griffith from Trinidad and Tobago, and in the tough fight at the semi-finals he conceded to Anatoly Stishak from Russia who later won the tournament.
