Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to Turkmenistan Hamad bin Rashid bin Hamad Al-Azbi, who presented his credentials to the head of the state.

Expressing gratitude for finding time for a meeting, the diplomat conveyed the warm greetings from the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his wishes of wellbeing and progress to the entire Turkmen people.  At that, it was noted that Qatar is very interested in the further development of traditional friendly relations with Turkmenistan, which follows the peace loving, positive neutrality and open doors policy, which stipulated a significant role of the country in the Central Asian region and its ever-growing international authority.

Having thanked the plenipotentiary representative of the friendly country for his kind words and having congratulated him with his appointment to the responsible diplomatic post, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed his reciprocal best wishes to the top authorities of the State of Qatar, underlining the interest of our country in all round strengthening of traditional bilateral brotherly relations and their development to the higher level and supplementation with new content.

The President of Turkmenistan stated with satisfaction that for years of establishment of diplomatic relations, cooperation between two countries are developed and strengthened successfully based on principles of respect, trust and openness. As was marked, agreements reached at the high level serve a reliable basis to bring Turkmen-Qatar partnership to a qualitatively higher new level.

In this regard, the head of the state underlined that he remembers with warmth his visit to the State of Qatar in December of the past year, during which he became an honorary guest in one of the matches of the world football championship held in the Doha. The state of Qatar is one of the first countries of the Near East to hold successfully such high-level international sports event and it testifies to the high authority of your state in the world and its contribution to the development of sports, the head of Turkmenistan said.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov underlined that within the framework of his visit there was held a meeting with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in which they discussed the state and future of interstate cooperation. It was pointed out that due work is carried out to open the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan in Doha which will serve further development of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the State of Qatar. 

Developing upon topical aspects of international policy, which arise mutual interest, the head of the state and the diplomat stressed significance of mutual support to set important proposals and initiatives aimed at maintaining peace, security and global sustainable development.

The fuel and energy sector, trade, investments, transport and communication, chemical and textile industries, agricultural sector, health care and high technology systems were identified as promising areas of cooperation.

Further, in the meeting importance of traditional humanitarian and cultural contacts, which are an inseparable part of the interstate dialogue, was emphasized. 

At the end of the meeting, Hamad bin Rashid bin Hamad Al-Azbi assured that as the plenipotentiary representative of his country in Turkmenistan, he will actively facilitate further development of the multifaceted and efficient constructive dialogue and kind relations meeting as a whole, interests of both countries and their friendly peoples.
