On November 25, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received first Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the forthcoming Global Sustainable Transport Conference. Sincerely appreciative of the personal audience with Turkmen President, the guest passed on cordial greetings to the Turkmen leader of nation from Acting President and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and wishes of wellbeing and prosperity - to the entire people of Turkmenistan. Grateful for kind words and sending in return his warm greetings to the leadership of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the head of state welcomed an invariably friendly and good-neighborly character of the Turkmen-Uzbek relations that acquire new content and significance with every passing year. In the course of meeting, the leader of nation and his guest exchanged opinions on the priority areas of interstate cooperation, having recognized availability of the untapped potential for stepping up the trade-economic partnership, promoting business contacts and productive relations in various sectors. Particularly interested consideration was given to the prospects for cooperation in the light of the Global Conference’s agenda, notably to such an important area, as the creation of the combined transport infrastructure that meets the objective dictates of the time. In this connection, the parties attached particular importance to the Ashgabat forum designed to become an open platform for the constructive opinions exchange, working out of concrete plans and proposals aimed to foster the partnership-based international cooperation in the transport-communications field. At the end of meeting, having expressed confidence that in the long run the Turkmen-Uzbek relations would continue to strengthen and develop successfully, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and his guest exchanged their best wishes for the fraternal peoples of the two neighboring countries. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan A. Kuchkarov.
