Turkmenistan and Tatarstan are bound by long-term partnership relations. Thanks to active multi-level cooperation, the interaction of the two countries covers new areas.

In January and April of this year, President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minikhanov attended Ashgabat with working visits. During the meetings at the highest level, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov repeatedly emphasized that the peoples of the two countries are firmly connected by a common culture, language, traditions and spiritual values.

In this light, a solid base for Turkmen-Tatarstan cooperation is being built on a friendly basis. Bilateral trade and economic ties are being strengthened and expanded. Joint activities are developing in the scientific, technical and cultural spheres, where an important role is assigned to the Joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group coordinating the interaction of the relevant structures.

Another effective step in building up fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan was the Turkmen-Tatarstan business forum held in March of this year. Representatives of the leading companies of Tatarstan, such as «KAMAZ», «Tatneft», «KER-Holding», as well as machine-building enterprises, gathered in Ashgabat to participate in the event.

The forum discussed the prospects for expanding business ties, bilateral trade, supplies of chemical products, pharmaceuticals and medicine, the agro-industrial complex, the potential for developing partnerships in the automotive, aircraft and shipbuilding sectors. A number of bilateral meetings were held within the framework of the business forum.

In particular, representatives of the agency «Türkmendeňizderýaýollary» («Turkmen sea and river routes») discussed with members of the shipbuilding company of Tatarstan «Ak Bars» the exchange of experience between Turkmen specialists and the possibility of providing the Turkmen side with modern technologies for the modernization of the national fleet.

The implementation of previously reached agreements and important joint projects implemented in various fields are regularly discussed during high-level meetings. At present, a number of new areas of cooperation, built on a mutually beneficial basis, have been outlined between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.
