On October 11, 2024, the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived in our country on a working visit.

Having warmly welcomed the leader of the neighboring state, the National Leader of Turkmen people thanked him for coming to Turkmenistan to participate in the international forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi. As noted, cooperation between the two neighboring countries is successfully developing in various areas, including in the humanitarian sphere. A clear evidence of this is the special role of the literary heritage of the great poet in relations between the Turkmen and Iranian peoples.

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan once again cordially congratulated the leader of the friendly state on his election as the President of Iran.

The head of the fraternal state, expressing gratitude for the hospitality and emphasizing the high level of organization of the international forum, noted that the poems of the poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi are of great importance for all mankind today. Taking the opportunity, President Masoud Pezeshkian conveyed warm greetings to the National Leader of Turkmen people from the Supreme Spiritual Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

During the meeting, the high level of interstate relations, which are actively developing today, was noted with satisfaction. Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has great potential for further interaction in the energy, transport and communications sectors, is of strategic importance for deepening effective trade and economic relations throughout the region.

Along with this, it is worth noting the successful development of cultural and humanitarian ties. This is clearly evidenced by the active cultural and scientific exchanges established in recent years, the organization of international conferences and forums with the participation of Turkmen and Iranian delegations, mutual cultural days, exhibitions of arts and crafts and other joint events.

The closeness of the views of the two countries on many issues on the regional and global agenda determines the effective cooperation of Turkmenistan and Iran within the framework of reputable international organizations.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the current level of mutually beneficial cooperation and the prospects for its further development. At the end of the meeting, the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian exchanged mutual wishes for good health, well-being and further success in their state activities.
