As part of his trip to Balkan Welayat, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has visited a vessel of Turkmen Navy “Gaýratly”, which carries service for protection of maritime borders. The Head of State familiarized himself with performance characteristics and combat capability of the military ship, as well existing conditions for crew and staff, talked with military sailors serving on the ship, cadets of the Naval Institute of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan, and asked their opinion about conditions, created for their duty. President of Turkmenistan congratulated the sailors on the upcoming holiday - the Day of Defender of Fatherland and wished them good health and great success in military service. Training of qualified military personnel is given an important role in a comprehensive program to strengthen national security and maintain high level of military defense. As part of the deployed military reforms in the country, the government has raised the status of military service and created all opportunities for training of qualified military personnel. Independent neutral Turkmenistan has been steadily pursuing a policy of peace, good neighborliness and wide international cooperation. Its military doctrine is purely defensive in nature, aimed at protecting the country's national interests and to oppose the threats of modern time.
