On 25 November 2024, the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Binali Yıldırım had a telephone conversation.

During the conversation, the sides noted that brotherly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye are enriched with new content.

The Chairman of Council of Elders of the OTS conveyed to the National Leader of Turkmen people sincere greetings of the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and invited him to participate in the 16th meeting of the Council of Elders scheduled to be held in Hungary as a guest of honour.

Thanking for the invitation, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan addressed his best wishes to the head of the brotherly country, including on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that the Republic of Türkiye is one of the closest friendly states for Turkmenistan, and the Turkmen-Turkish relations are developing at a high level.

It was highlighted that strengthening fruitful bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Turkic States is an important part of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy.

Turkmenistan takes an active part in the work of the Organization of Turkic States, including the Council of Elders of the OTS. In that connection, it was noted that the 15th meeting of the Council of Elders of the OTS has been held at a high level in Ashgabat in March of current year.

The National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that hosting such an important event in Turkmenistan serves as a proof of the country’s adherence for close cooperation with Turkic countries, as well as a high trust shown to Turkmenistan.

The National Leader of Turkmen people reaffirmed his readiness to support initiatives aimed at developing and strengthening relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye, as well as the Organization of Turkic States, and invited Binali Yıldırım to take part in the celebrations to be held in Ashgabat on the occasion of the International Day of Neutrality on 12 December this year. 

At the end of the telephone conversation, the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States Binali Yıldırım exchanged wishes for good health, happiness, as well as for peace, prosperity and well-being to the brotherly peoples of the two countries.
