On December 10, 2024, in accordance with the instructions of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova received credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Turkmenistan Marcel Fortuna Biato.

On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, the head of the Mejlis congratulated the Ambassador on the start of his diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan, wishing him success in his noble activities aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation.

Thanking for the warm welcome, the Ambassador conveyed sincere congratulations and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Turkmen people on the occasion of the International Day of Neutrality from the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

During the meeting, the Ambassador of Brazil was informed in detail about the grand transformations and large-scale reforms being carried out in Turkmenistan.

The Chairwoman of the Mejlis also informed the diplomat about the activities of the Parliament, which plays a key role in improving the national legislation that serves as a basis for the progressive balanced development of Turkmenistan.

The sides highly appraised the prospects of Turkmen-Brazilian interaction in both bilateral and multilateral formats, including within the framework of international organizations and as part of dialogue between Turkmenistan and Latin American countries, expressing mutual interest in intensifying the interstate cooperation.

It was noted that business circles of Brazil show great interest in the potential opportunities for establishing mutually beneficial cooperation, for activation of which encouraging preconditions are created by Turkmenistan’s “open door” policy, including the favorable investment climate.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Turkmenistan Marcel Fortuna Biato assured the Head of the National Parliament that he would make every effort to further strengthen the traditionally friendly Turkmen-Brazilian relations.
