On February 24, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Ms. Rabab Fatima.

Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting and taking the opportunity to convey warm words of greetings from the UN Secretary-General António Guterres to the head of state, as well as the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the guest emphasized the role of Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality in the interests of global peace and sustainable development.

Having warmly welcomed Ms. Rabab Fatima and addressed return greetings and best wishes to the UN Secretary-General, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished the guest success in the upcoming meetings and briefing on the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which will be held in August this year.

The head of state cordially congratulated Ms. Rabab Fatima on the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations.

Noting that over the past 80 years, the UN has proven its unwavering commitment to the great goals and objectives laid down in its foundation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the Organization will continue to make a significant contribution to maintaining global peace, security and sustainable development. As noted, the current year, marked by the 30th anniversary of the neutrality of the Turkmen state, was declared by the UN General Assembly, at the proposal of the country, as the “International Year of Peace and Trust”.

In continuation, an exchange of views took place on organizational measures in the context of preparations for the high-level UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

In this regard, the head of state emphasized the special attention paid in Turkmenistan to the development of the transport and communications sector: the favourable geographical location of our country serves as a reliable platform for expanding the transport and logistics network, and this fact, in turn, determines the measures taken to create important international multimodal transport corridors North–South and East–West for the region. In the context of the targeted activities carried out on a consistent basis, the role of four resolutions in the field of sustainable transport adopted by the UN General Assembly was emphasized.

As the head of state noted, in 2022, the Avaza National Tourist Zone hosted an International Conference with the participation of transport ministers of landlocked developing countries, as well as international and regional structures. Within its framework, topical issues on the creation of sustainable transport and transit corridors were discussed.

In conclusion, confirming Turkmenistan’s readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation with the United Nations and its specialized structures, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished UN Under Secretary-General Rabab Fatima good health, happiness and success in her responsible mission.
