On the 4th of June, the 2025 grain harvesting campaign was launched in our country. The results of the harvest will be a significant contribution of farmers to ensuring food abundance, their worthy gift for the significant date celebrated in the International Year of Peace and Trust - the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

During the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on the 29th of May, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov blessed the beginning of an important agricultural campaign, wishing the farmers new labour successes in the fields of the country. In accordance with this, grain growers of the Ahal, Lebap and Mary velayats have begun mowing, and on the 11th of June, farmers of the Balkan and Dashoguz velayats will join them.

According to the good tradition that has developed over the centuries, the elders offered a prayer to the Almighty for a successful wheat harvest, for the well-being and prosperity of the Fatherland, and the entire Turkmen people. Having mown the first full ears of grain with the words «Harmanyňyza bereket, çäjiňize bereket»! – «May the harvest of your grain be abundant»! the elders handed over the symbolic sheaves to the combine operators.

This year, Turkmen grain growers will have to collect 1 million 400 thousand tons of grain from 690 thousand hectares allocated for winter crops, including 400 thousand tons in the Ahal velayat, 345 thousand tons in Mary, 310 thousand tons in Lebap, 265 thousand tons in Dashoguz and 80 thousand tons in Balkan. The agricultural lands were sown with high-yielding varieties of food wheat.

It should be noted that the Turkmens are the founders of one of the most ancient agricultural civilisations, which is confirmed by numerous archaeological finds. For thousands of years, relying on rich, time-tested agricultural experience, they grew generous grain harvests.

Currently, the country is conducting programmatic work aimed at the comprehensive, scientifically based development of the agricultural sector and increasing crop yields.

In accordance with the priorities of the agricultural policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, agricultural producers in the country are provided with various state benefits, including those aimed at reducing production costs. All this is enshrined in the Laws of Turkmenistan «On State Regulation of Agricultural Development», «On Grain Growing», «On Cotton Growing» and other regulatory and legal acts.

Close attention is paid to constructive interaction with scientific organisations involved in selection and seed production. Variety testing is carried out in this industry to facilitate the practical introduction of new varieties. Particular emphasis is placed on the issues of rational use of land and water resources, irrigation and melioration of agricultural land. As a result of the activities of agricultural scientists and specialised specialists, as well as the dedicated work of farmers, crop yields are growing, and a reliable food base for our sovereign state is provided.

The introduction of new varieties of agricultural crops is the main direction of the innovative strategy for the development of crop production in Turkmenistan. An example of this is the new varieties of winter wheat – «Serdar», «Arkadag», «Pyragy» bred at the Research Institute of Grain Growing of the Ministry of Agriculture of the country.

In order to successfully solve the problems outlined in the Program of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan in 2022-2028 on growing rich harvests of wheat and cotton, economic incentives for the labor of agricultural producers, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Resolution on increasing state purchase prices for ak bugday and «white gold».

On the occasion of the start of the mowing, seminars were held in the velayats, where a wide range of issues on the organised conduct of the harvest, the clear and coordinated work of the grain harvesting conveyor were discussed.

Grain harvesters and modern high-performance equipment are involved in the 2025 harvest. Their crews are made up of experienced machine operators.

During the harvest period, mobile repair and mechanical teams will service grain growers around the clock, supplying them with everything they need - fuel and lubricants, spare parts. Wheat will be delivered to receiving points, barns and elevators by trucks. The laboratories of the Main State Service «Türkmenstandartlary» are also fully prepared, and their specialists will quickly determine the quality of grain coming from the fields using the latest equipment.

To mark the current season, exhibitions have been organised at the edge of the wheat fields - in the places where festivities are held to mark the beginning of the mowing - where various agricultural products, bakery products, and modern agricultural machinery are presented. Performances by singers, dance and folk groups from the velayats also took place here.
