Today, the Private Sector Forum, held within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, continued its work in the «Avaza» National Tourist Zone.

The thematic session «Development Opportunities for LLDCs» discussed measures aimed at sustainable and inclusive development of landlocked countries through the strategic use of their potential in the rapidly developing global economy. The session was organised jointly with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).

As noted, landlocked developing countries make up a significant part of the global economy, but they face certain challenges associated with their geographical location. The lack of direct access to seaports creates logistical, transport and economic difficulties.

At the same time, LLDCs have enormous potential. Modern technologies, expanded regional cooperation and innovative approaches to economic management open up new prospects for them. In particular, digitalisation and the introduction of modern information and communication technologies increase access to international markets and financial services, which, in turn, contributes to the development of entrepreneurship.

It was also emphasised that investments in sustainable industry will contribute to accelerating economic growth and creating new jobs. As a specialised UN agency, UNIDO supports the development of environmentally friendly industries in LLDCs.

The key conditions for the sustainable development of these countries are structural reforms, economic diversification and expansion of export potential.

It was noted that energy accessibility is recognised as the basis for any development. In this regard, the importance of introducing sustainable energy solutions and energy-saving technologies was emphasised. The private sector is the key driver of reforms in this area. Investments in renewable energy sources, innovative technologies and production not only ensure economic development, but also help reduce the harmful impact on the environment.
