On August 5, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya Mohammed Yunus Menfi, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

Having warmly welcomed the distinguished guest to Turkmen soil, the head of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude for his acceptance of the invitation to participate in the Third UN Conference on LLDCs, which is being held under the motto “Driving Progress through Partnerships”.

Expressing satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss priority areas of interstate dialogue during a personal meeting, the Chairman of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya noted that his country highly values cooperation with neutral Turkmenistan, which puts forward initiatives aimed at strengthening global peace and trust.

The head of the friendly state also expressed confidence that this Conference, held in Turkmenistan, will be of great importance for creating favorable conditions for transit transportation, providing the necessary opportunities for countries that do not have direct access to sea terminals, and establishing an effective partnership for the sake of a bright future for the peoples living in these states.

As noted during the meeting, cooperation between Turkmenistan and Libya is consistently developing based on the traditions of friendship and brotherhood, principles of mutual respect and equality.

In this regard, the interlocutors noted the existence of great potential for the development of bilateral relations in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Stressing that within the framework of trade and economic cooperation there are new opportunities for expanding interaction in the oil and gas sector, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that systematic dialogue will be useful for finding and implementing new forms and mechanisms of partnership in this industry.

The interlocutors emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the areas of science, education, culture, art and sports.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya Mohammed Yunus Menfi, confirming the commitment of the two countries to the progressive development of friendly relations, wished each other good health and success in responsible state activities.
