Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov departed for an official visit to the Italian Republic. The head of state was seen off at the international airport of Turkmen capital by government officials.

A few hours later, plane of the head of state landed at Rome-Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. Here, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was warmly greeted by officials of the Italian Republic, as well as members of official delegation of our country.

Relations between Turkmenistan and the Italian Republic are a shining example of successful and mutually beneficial cooperation, with a centuries-long history and promising future. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, our countries have been actively developing a multifaceted partnership based on principles of mutual respect.

During the visit, a meeting between the two heads of state will take place. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is also scheduled to participate in the Turkmen-Italian Business Forum and the opening ceremony of the «Ancient civilisation of Turkmenistan» exhibition at the Capitoline museum in Rome.

Following the visit, it is expected that a package of bilateral documents on key areas of cooperation will be signed.
