As part of his working visit to the United States, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the Subcommittee on South and Central Asia of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the US House of Representatives Bill Huizenga and his deputy Sydney Kamlager-Dove.

Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest and expressing satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss issues of further development of interstate cooperation, representatives of the US Congress noted that the current visit of the President of Turkmenistan is intended to contribute to the strengthening of traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.

Expressing gratitude for the kind words, the Head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to developing cooperation with the United States of America in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also recalled that this year marks the 10th anniversary of cooperation between the United States of America and the states of Central Asia within the framework of the “C5+1”. It was emphasized that this partnership format has become an effective platform for discussing issues of security, economy, climate, and energy.

Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that Turkmenistan considers cooperation with the US Congress to be an important vector for the development of bilateral relations.

It was noted that in recent years, representatives of Congress have visited Turkmenistan and work was done to expand interparliamentary cooperation. In this context, the importance of the Turkmen-American business forum, organized as part of the Turkmen delegation’s visit to the United States, was emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and members of Congress – Chairman of the Subcommittee on South and Central Asia of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the US House of Representatives Bill Huizenga and his deputy Sydney Kamlager-Dove exchanged mutual good wishes, expressing confidence that interstate relations based on trust and mutual understanding will continue to develop for the benefit of the peoples of two countries.
