Held under the chairmanship of President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, Army General Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, a meeting of the State Security Council has summed up the running year’s one-month activity of the country’s military and law enforcement agencies. The meeting focused on the implementation progress of the military reform aimed at strengthening and improving the material-technical base of the national army and training highly-qualified military personnel; the state of affairs at the State Border; the construction of modern frontier posts. The meeting participants also discussed the efforts made to prevent crimes and road accidents, and to ensure fire safety. The steps taken to enhance national security and preserve the favorable socio-political climate in the country, the measures intended to upgrade the country’s judicial system and legislation, as well as the work of the State Customs Service and the State Migration Service received special emphasis. The combined efforts of the country’s health care institutions and public organizations aimed to fight addiction to harmful substances were a particular topic for discussion. The head of state was also informed about specialized training activities, in which well-known Turkmen Alabai dogs were engaged and provided invaluable assistance both in catching criminals and finding explosives. It is notable that a puppy of this unique ancient breed with its preserved purity and genotype has been selected as a mascot of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be held in Ashgabat this autumn. Highlighting that over the centuries, these strong, brave, intelligent, enduring, loyal and friendly dogs have become an integral part of our cultural identity, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has assigned to establish specialized centers for professional training of Alabai dogs and their further service in law enforcement agencies. The President of Turkmenistan instructed to pay special attention to the issues of maintaining strict discipline in all branches of the military and law enforcement bodies, and raising a professional level of servicemen. Focusing on the importance of the work, the head of state stressed that the law enforcement agencies’ activities should be in line with Turkmenistan’s socially-oriented policy, whose top priority is happiness and wellbeing of the people. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the state would give close attention to strengthening and upgrading the material-technical facilities of the Armed Forces, training of military personnel, creating everything necessary for efficient service of servicemen and comfortable lives of their families.
