On December 19, 2025, during his visit to Japan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Endo Toshiaki, Chairman of the Japan-Turkmen Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest, Endo Toshiaki emphasized that, as a result of consistent political dialogue, interstate relations have reached a qualitatively new level in recent years. In this regard, they expressed confidence that the current visit of the head of Turkmenistan will be an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Noting the enormous contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to the development of the Japan-Turkmen partnership, the Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group took the opportunity to convey warm greetings to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.

Endo Toshiaki emphasized his particularly warm memories of meeting with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in April of this year during his visit to Japan. The Chairman of the Japan-Turkmenistan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group also took the opportunity to warmly congratulate the head of state on the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

Thanking him for his kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that interstate relations are based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit.

The head of state noted that parliamentary ties are among the key areas of partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan.

As emphasized, Turkmenistan supports the development of parliamentary diplomacy as the primary tool for maintaining peace, cooperation, and mutual understanding. In this regard, emphasis was placed on the importance of the initiative to hold the Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian Countries and Japan in Ashgabat, put forward by Hero Arkadag in September 2022 during his visit.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of economic partnership in bilateral relations, noting the contribution of Japanese companies to the development of Turkmenistan's economy.

It was also emphasized that the cultural and humanitarian sphere, particularly healthcare, education, and culture, are key to bilateral cooperation.

It was noted that the activities of the Interparliamentary Friendship Group, along with the exchange of best practices in legislative matters, facilitate the practical implementation of economic projects, cultural and humanitarian initiatives, and the coordination of efforts on the international stage.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Japan-Turkmenistan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Endo Toshiaki expressed confidence that the traditionally friendly relations will continue to strengthen and exchanged best wishes.
