Turkmenistan's national team will take part in the Belarus open championship in sambo

Turkmen sambo wrestlers will participate in the open championship of the Republic of Belarus. The tournament has gathered more than 200 athletes from 16 countries - Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Israel, Slovakia, Ukraine and others in Minsk. Our national team includes 18 men and 8 women. During the Open Championship, competition for medals will be joined by world-class master of sports, participant of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) - Gulbadam Babamuratova, winner of IVth Asian Games 2013 in Incheon (South Korea) - Nurali Yalkabov and other famous athletes. In previous competitions in Minsk, the team from Turkmenistan has won six medals - one gold, two silver and three bronze. And the final fight in the weight category up to 68 kg, with 14 contenders for the award, was held between two athletes from Ashgabat - Abdulla Babayev, rising eventually to the highest step of the podium, and Ilyas Momunov (“silver”). During the Asian Sambo Championship, which was held in the capital's Olympic town in May last year, Turkmenistan's national team won first place in the team standings, having won 66 medals - 21 gold, 26 silver and 19 bronze.
