Today, the Ashgabat equestrian sports complex hosted festivities on the occasion of the national holiday of the Turkmen horse with participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the awarding ceremony of winners of the international competition «Ýylyň iň owadan ahalteke bedewi» as well as the competition declared among creative specialists were also held on their margins.
In the Era of Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state, thanks to noble undertakings of National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag and indefatigable efforts of the President of the country, the glory of "paradise" horses, which are our national pride, travels all over the world. The Akhal-teke breed, which was developed in the Turkmen land and has become a universal heritage, is considered one of the elite ones in the world.
In Turkmenistan, the national horse-breeding branch is brought up to a new level and a large-scale work is carried out to perfect profile infrastructure and develop equestrian sports and national traditions of horse breeding. The special attention is given to maintenance of the branch with highly skilled personnel – training of horse breeders, horse grooms, equestrians and other profile specialists.
Creation of the International Academy of Horse Breeding named after Aba Annayev and the Research and Production Centre of Horse Breeding, which promotes not only development of the branch, but also preservation of purity of the breed of glorified Akhal-teke horses, in Arkadag city, also attests visually to the fact.
The establishment of the International Association of Akhal-teke Horse Breeding opened ample opportunities for expansion of international cooperation in this sphere. Construction of horse racing complexes of international standards, scientific-educational centres and horse stables in all velayats of the country enables to arrange the activity of local horse breeders at modern level.
Erection of monuments to «Akhan» and «Taýçanak», State Horse Circus named after Gorogly as well as assignment to one of the avenues the name of Ahalteke atlary in Arkadag smart city, which is the first one in the region created at the initiative of Hero-Arkadag, once again testified to the display of national love to glorified horses.
Inclusion of the art of Akhal-teke horse breeding and traditions of decoration of horses as one of the art forms in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO increased an international recognition of Akhal-teke horses, which are considered as a masterpiece of national and world culture. Successes of the Galkynysh Group of National Equestrian Games created at the initiative of Hero-Arkadag, in the international reviews testify to honour of people for "heavenly" horses and a large-scale work carried out in our country for careful preservation of Akhal-teke horses and ancient traditions of horse breeding.
… the opening ceremony of a monument to the glorified Akhal-teke horse named Piyada – a repeated winner of prestigious international beauty contests, which has made a deep trace in the history of horse-breeding art of Turkmen people in front of the Ashgabat equestrian sports complex anticipated festive celebrations.
In speeches of participants of the celebration, it was underlined that thanks to indefatigable efforts of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in the country a great deal of work is carried out to develop the horse-breeding branch, preserve purity of the breed of Akhal-teke horses and further augment their international recognition.
As was marked, our "heavenly" horses, which differ with their fidelity, grace, beauty, precipitancy and endurance, are our national pride, companions of Turkmen, personify dynamical development of independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan. In the given context, in our country, complex measures are implemented to increase the glory of Akhal-teke horses and perfect the national art of horse breeding inherited from ancestors, perpetuate names of famous horses - winners of large world competitions.
Speakers especially underlined that victories of the horse by name of Piyada also speak clearly of grandiose successes of Turkmen art of horse breeding on the world scene. Piyada became the winner-champion of beauty contests of Akhal-teke horses held in Ashgabat in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. It also won the main prize of beauty contest of Akhal-teke horses «The Star of Turkestan», held in 2008 and 2009 in the Republic of Uzbekistan, in Tashkent city. At present, during the spring season of horse races for the distance of 1800 metres among three-year-old horses, the prize «Pyýada», carrying its name is presented to winners of horse races. In that connection, the significance of the opening ceremony of the monument to the horse named Piyada was marked.
As was underlined, this remarkable monument opened on the threshold of the national holiday of the Turkmen horse, became a fine gift for our compatriots and bright expression of high respect for centuries-old horse-breeding school of our people and national heritage.
Then, under solemn conditions, the monument to the horse named Piyada was opened.
At the end of the ceremony, its participants expressed their deep gratitude to National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for their indefatigable efforts to augment the international recognition of Akhal-teke horses and modernisation of the material and technical basis of horse-breeding branch.
... President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in the Ashgabat equestrian sports complex to participate in festive events. There, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis, deputy-chairmen of the Cabinet, heads of ministries, sectoral departments, military and law enforcement bodies welcomed the head of the state. Among participants of the celebration were also heads of diplomatic representatives of foreign states and international organisations, famous horse breeders and profile specialists.
The President of the country examined the monument to the famous Akhal-teke horse named Piyada installed in front of the main entrance to the complex. Performances of workers of culture and art were also organized there. In their compositions, they glorified wonderful Akhal-teke horses, which have become a pride of our people.
There, members of the Government of the country sincerely congratulated the President of the country as well as Hero-Arkadag with the opening of the monument to the famous Akhal-teke horse named Piyada and wished sound health, long life and great successes in all their undertakings for the benefit of our people and country.
The President of Turkmenistan also congratulated all with the significant holiday and made a memorable photo.
Further, the head of the state went into the main building of the complex.
On his way, the President of Turkmenistan examined exhibition stands of Arkadag and Ashgabat cities and velayats of the country, in which works of artists, sculptors, carpet weavers and jewellers who have skilfully embodied the image of Akhal-teke horses, works of fine, decorative and applied arts, horse equipment and photos were presented. Those works, which display an ideological message of the year «Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the homeland of purposeful winged racers», fully demonstrate the creative spirit of the Era of Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state. Each of them displays the role, which Akhal-teke horses play in the life of our people.
Works with images of horses and sculptures catch the special attention. Artists could skilfully expressed the beauty of horses. In sculptures of horses, one can see a reflexion wise saying of ancestors «At - myrat». It not only testifies to the high respect for horses, but also expresses the national love and pride.
In the remarkable book «Horse - a symbol of fidelity and happiness» by Hero-Arkadag it is noted: «Let successes of Akhal-teke horses increase for centuries!». Today, those catchwords of Hero-Arkadag are realised under the leadership of Arkadagly Hero Serdar.
Magnificence of Akhal-teke horses is embodied in works of jeweller art. Our people always were proud of horses, creating for them ornaments from precious metals and stones and there were developed a number of original traditions connected with festive decoration of horses. Elements of horse harness exhibited at exhibitions and jewellery amaze with uniqueness of techniques of execution. The horse equipment is an integral part of glorious horse-breeding culture of Turkmen people. These refined works once again confirm that the original creative school of Turkmen jewellers has no analogues in the world.
Inspired musical performances and songs performed by workers of arts of cities of Arkadag and Ashgabat, as well as all velayats of the country became a highlight of the event.
Besides it, there yurtas «аk öý» were established, a unique collection of the values reflecting culture, many-sided creativity, and development of decorative, applied and fine arts of our people was presented. Among them - national costumes, jewellery articles, household items and modern art products.

On the occasion of the national holiday of the Turkmen horse, on behalf of residents of Akhal, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap, Mary velayats, the fine horses named Gozbash, Sumbar, Shabat, Jeyhun and Margush respectively as well as Nisa and Mertebeli from Ashgabat and Arkadag cities respectively on behalf of their residents were given to the head of the state as a gift. The representatives of the younger generation, who represented velayats and Ashgabat and Arkadag cities, expressed their gratitude to Arkadagly Hero Serdar with their inspiring verses.
On behalf of military and law enforcement bodies, the horse named Gayratly was presented to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov as a gift.
Then, a master horse breeder spoke and marked that a popular wisdom says: «Arkalaşan dag aşar» and the concept "from generation to generation" personifies firmness of national traditions, the chosen bright way, and on behalf of all horse breeders of the country requested the head of the state to accept as a gift the horse named Arkahan.
Having pointed out that in consciousness of our people the image of "mountain" personifies such concepts as a support, pillar and protection, the master horse breeder congratulated Hero-Arkadag with the fine horse and on behalf of all horse breeders of the country requested the head of the state to give as a gift to National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Hero Arkadag the Akhal-teke horse named Daghan.
Arkadagly Hero Serdar expressed sincere gratitude to honourable elders and horse breeders who were participating in the festivities.
The head of the state tied the alaja woven by his grandmother Ogulabat ene on the neck of the horse named Daghan presented by horse breeders to Hero Arkadag, and the talisman woven by his mother Ogulgerek eje on the neck of the horse named Arkahan. It became a bright symbol of worthy continuation of ancient traditions of Turkmen people thanks to efforts of Arkadagly Hero Serdar.
Then, the final stage of the international competition «Ýylyň iň owadan ahalteke bedewi» was held. The review aimed at development of horse-breeding traditions and augmentation of international recognition of Akhal-teke horses, has a special significance in perfection of methods of cultivation of thoroughbred horses. In the final round of the competition, 10 magnificent representatives of the breed were chosen.
The fine horses, which are descendants of eminent ancestors, based the best pedigree lines of Akhal-teke horses are brought out onto the observation area.
The host by their names introduces each horse and familiarizes with their family trees. They include cream-coloured horses by names Gojameydan, Hankerven, Meydanly, dun Pespalli, bay - Edermen, Pahimli, Kerven, dark-bay Adyl, black Mekan and grey horse Merdana. All these racers continue this or that breeding line, which is going back to the well-known ancestors. Numerous admirers of "heavenly" horses could estimate the unique beauty of descendants of glorified horses, which have laid a basis of main lines in selection and cultivation of thoroughbred Akhal-teke horses.
At first, horses appeared before the public without elegant trappings and then in a magnificent caparisons with traditional national horse ornaments made by the best masters-jewellers. The host presented the detailed information on each participant of the beauty contest, told of national traditions of horse breeding and unique features of the breed. Under the complex arches the inspired poetic verses devoted to horses sounded.
Then, the awarding ceremony of winners of horse marathon and show jumping competitions held on the occasion of the national holiday of the Turkmen horse were held. In the horse marathon, the 1st place went to the horse named Melegush of the household of B.Ballyev. In show jumping competitions, the horse named Gudratly of the Ahalteke equestrian sports complex of the President of Turkmenistan was winner. Prizes of sectoral departments of the country were given to winners.
Then, names of winners of creative competition in artistic realisation of unique natural charm and beauty of horses in art were declared. The best works were chosen according to nominations - carpet product, jeweller product, the best picturesque and sculptural product, and publishing products, pictures and TV plots.
Prizes on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov were handed to following winners: carpet maker of the Ashgabat carpet weaving enterprise of «Türkmenhaly» State Association M.Annaberdiyeva for the carpet product «Bagtyýar»; to the teacher of the department of design of the State Fine Arts Academy of Turkmenistan B.Amanov for complete horse ornaments «Türkmen bedewi»; to the teacher of the department of design of the State Fine Arts Academy of Turkmenistan R.Kurbanov for the painting «Toýly Watanym»; to the teacher of the department of sculpture of the State Fine Arts Academy of Turkmenistan A.Malikov for sculptural product «Türkmen bedew aty toýly»; to the 2nd year student of the speciality «sports journalism» of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports I.Churiyev for photo work «Bedewim göz-guwanjym»; to the 4th year student of the speciality «Camerawork and production editing» of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture Kh. Kakabayev for the video image of «Türkmen bedewi».
In creative works, participants tried to present their vision of the image of horse, as the standard of beauty, harmonies and object of admiration.
Winners of the competition expressed their sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan and Hero-Arkadag for appreciation of their works and assured that they will use their best efforts for augmentation of the world glory of "paradise" racers.
Then, the winner of the international competition «Ýylyň iň owadan ahalteke bedewi» was declared. The most beautiful horse of 2026 was recognised the cream-coloured horse named Hankerven of the Ahalteke equestrian sports complex of the President of Turkmenistan, born in 2018, descendant of Hanbegler and Okgyz belonging to the line of famous Gaplang.
According to the Order of the President of Turkmenistan keys to the car of white colour of model «Toyota Fortuner», a challenge cup, and a diploma were handed to the winner of the international competition.
The horse groom of the racer-winner expressed sincere gratitude to the head of the state for a costly present and for the huge attention given to development of horse-breeding branch. He assured that Turkmen horse breeders will continue adequately work of ancestors in this sphere and wished the President of Turkmenistan sound health, longevity, great successes in his activity for the benefit of our people and country.
Then, the President of Turkmenistan was presented with a fine carpet as a gift.
The musical and song performances developed before the main building of the Ashgabat equestrian sports complex became a final accord of the festive event.
Then, head of the state Serdar Berdimuhamedov warmly said goodbye to participants of the festive event and left the place.
Today, in the territory of the complex a festive sadaka was given.
Thus, present celebrations, promoting the further popularisation of the glory of Turkmen horses, which are a national pride, became a bright symbol of prompt progress of Turkmenistan under the wise leadership of Arkadagly Hero Serdar.
