On 29 June 2026, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Extending heartfelt congratulations to Hero-Arkadag on the occasion of his birthday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wished him sound health, family well-being and every success in his responsible state activities. The Head of the brotherly state highly commended the tremendous personal contribution of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty to strengthening the traditional ties of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye. Taking the opportunity, President Erdogan also conveyed his best wishes to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Expressing sincere appreciation for the warm congratulations and kind wishes, Hero-Arkadag thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his continued efforts and significant personal contribution to the further development of the fruitful strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized that reciprocal visits, regular contacts and high-level meetings between the heads of the two states serve as an important factor in promoting political dialogue and expanding bilateral cooperation in the trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
In this regard, Hero-Arkadag recalled with satisfaction President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Turkmenistan in December last year to participate in the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and expressed gratitude to the Turkish leader for his participation in those landmark events.
“We stand ready to continue our political dialogue at the highest level,” Hero-Arkadag stated.
Noting that a number of important international events will be held in the Republic of Türkiye this autumn, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty confirmed Turkmenistan’s participation in the forthcoming Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, as well as in the 31st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31).
Hero-Arkadag expressed appreciation to the Turkish side for its consistent support of Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality and the constructive initiatives advanced by the country within the framework of the United Nations and other authoritative international organizations.
Touching upon bilateral trade and economic cooperation, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty noted with satisfaction that the Republic of Türkiye has traditionally remained one of Turkmenistan’s leading foreign trade partners. In this context, particular importance was attached to the activities of the Turkmen-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, whose ninth meeting was recently held in Ashgabat.
Highlighting the important role played by the private sector in strengthening bilateral economic relations, the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that, over the years of Turkmenistan’s independence, Turkish companies have actively participated in the implementation of numerous large-scale projects in the country. These include the construction of textile complexes, energy and gas chemical facilities, industrial enterprises, public buildings and hundreds of other socially and economically significant infrastructure projects.
Hero-Arkadag further noted that Turkmenistan maintains close cooperation with the Republic of Türkiye in the fields of energy, transport and communications, as well as logistics, reaffirming Turkmenistan’s readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation in these strategic areas.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people also expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, science, education and other social sectors. In this regard, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty emphasized the expediency of continuing the practice of holding joint cultural events, including the now traditional Cross Culture Days and Film Days.
Addressing cooperation in the field of education, Hero-Arkadag noted that thousands of Turkmen students are currently pursuing higher education at universities in the Republic of Türkiye and expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for providing broad educational opportunities to Turkmen youth.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of consistently strengthening cooperation in healthcare, physical culture and sports, as well as in the field of mass media.
Taking the opportunity, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty invited President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to pay a visit to Turkmenistan at any time convenient to him.
