Today, the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan held a briefing to discuss issues aimed at improving activities of the agency in accordance with current national legislation and international law. This event became one of the most important events of the year «Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the homeland of purposeful winged horses».

Currently, Turkmenistan, whose neutral status has been recognised three times by the United Nations, is putting forward initiatives in the international arena aimed at promoting global peace, sustainable development, and mutually beneficial cooperation. In a context where global migration processes are changing in accordance with the demands of the times, special attention is being paid to improving migration procedures and intensifying international relations in this area.

In this regard, the special importance of the participation in the event of the heads of diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan abroad, as well as the heads and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in our country, was emphasised.

Embassies and consular offices are an important link between states and citizens. Therefore, informing the diplomatic corps about the measures taken in migration system of Turkmenistan, the results achieved in international cooperation, as well as about work related to electronic visas and online registration of foreign citizens, is of key importance for communicating these to the public and further developing bilateral relations.

As is known, the activities of migration services around the world include several areas. These include the processing of visas and biometric passports, registration of foreign citizens, citizenship issues and the elimination of statelessness, etc. At the same time, special attention is being paid to expanding the capabilities of the digital system in the area of migration, which demonstrates the high priority of improving the quality of services provided to the population.

In dynamically developing Turkmenistan, international cooperation is reaching a new level – interaction with countries around the world and authoritative international organisations is expanding. The steady growth in the number of foreign citizens arriving in the country and compatriots leaving abroad determines the intensity and constant nature of migration flows.

As noted during the briefing, as a result of the successful implementation of large-scale reforms initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, modern information technologies and digital systems are being actively introduced into various areas, ensuring improved quality of services and the prompt completion of assigned tasks.

In this context, special attention is being paid to improving the qualifications of employees of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, mastering advanced global practices, and implementing innovative technologies and artificial intelligence capabilities. Along with this, the intensification of international relations is considered a key direction for the effective integration of the country into the system of global economic relations.

The speeches also noted that Turkmenistan was the first in the region to introduce biometric passports in 2008, which fully comply with international standards. Currently, as part of the digitalisation of the sector, mechanisms for issuing electronic visas are being introduced, which serves as further confirmation of the consistent work to improve the quality and efficiency of migration services provided.

During a briefing on the current status and priority areas for the development of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, participants expressed deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero-Arkadag, for creating the conditions for effective work. The speakers assured that they would make every effort to successfully complete the assigned tasks, actively mastering advanced international experience and innovative technologies.
