President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received Government Deputy Chairman of the Republic of Slovenia, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Karl Erjavec, arrived in Ashgabat at the head of a representative delegation of his country to participate in a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Slovenian Trade-Economic Cooperation Commission. Noting with satisfaction the progressive nature of inter-state relations, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov stated that in recent years the Turkmen-Slovenian relations have found new content, particularly through a constructive dialogue with the countries of the European Union. During the meeting, there was a keen exchange of views on a wide range of issues of the Turkmen-Slovenian cooperation. The parties highlighted the importance of intergovernmental agreements and other normative legal documents, signed during the official visit of President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Slovenia in May 2015. Special attention was paid to the agenda of a regular meeting of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission, which would consider the possibilities to deepen the cooperation, and definitize priority orientations of partnership. Emphasizing the great interest of Slovenia’s business circles to Turkmenistan, the guest confirmed the Slovenian companies’ efforts to extend presence in the promising Turkmen market. The President of Turkmenistan the head of Foreign Ministry of Slovenia took stand for the activization of contacts in science, education and culture and also in the field of health and sport. There are extensive prospects for cooperation in the tourism industry. Highly appreciating the peaceful foreign policy of Turkmenistan, MFA head of Slovenia underlined the importance of international initiatives, put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov. It was noted that Slovenia was among the first to support the Turkmen leader’s proposals for ensuring the global energy security, submitted to the UN, and intends further to fully support to Turkmenistan’s activities in the international arena. Slovenia highly appreciates the positive neutrality of Turkmenistan, being an important peace and stability factor in the region, the head of Foreign Ministry of the friendly country emphasized. The meeting was participated by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to Turkmenistan Primoz Sheligo.
