The Heads of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus addressed the media representatives

After the ceremony of signing of documents on the results of the talks in Ashgabat, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko addressed the representatives of mass media. As noted, productive and intensive negotiations were held, during which the state and prospects of bilateral relations, issues of regional and international policy, which are of mutual interest, were discussed, concrete directions for cooperation were identified. It was stressed that on many issues of international and regional policy, Turkmenistan and Belarus demonstrate the coincidence or similarity of positions, which is the key to successful cooperation of the two countries in the world arena, primarily in the UN format. Today's meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, strengthened the foundations of bilateral trade and economic partnership. The most promising areas are the development of ties in trade, fuel and energy complex, processing and chemical industry, agriculture, machine building, textile and light industry. The flagship of the Turkmen-Belarusian economic relations is a mining and processing enterprise built in Garlyk settlement of Lebap velayat with production capacity of 1.4 million tons of potassium chloride per year. The Turkmen leader congratulated President Alexander Lukashenko and in his person all Belarusian partners on the successful completion of this grandiose project and invited him to the opening ceremony of the industrial giant. As noted, an agreement has been reached on a more active involvement of the two states in the Eurasian transport and transit vector of cooperation along the North-South and East-West routes, with access to Eastern and Central Europe, the Baltic region, the vast markets of the Middle East and South Asia. The Heads of State reaffirmed their intention to create conditions for creative cooperation between cultural and art workers of Turkmenistan and Belarus, and to expand cooperation in the educational sphere.
