Turkmen swimmers won eleven medals in the Asian Championship

The swimming tournament finished in the capital’s Olympic Village, where Turkmen athletes won a total of eleven prizes (two gold, six silver and three bronze medals), having secured fourth place in the team event. On the final day of the competitions, Merdan Atayev won the gold medal. He was out reach in the 50-meter backstroke event. He also became a silver medalist in the 4x100 meter relay, where he performed together with Batyr Tachmyradov, Ruslan Nazarov and Valentin Gorshkov. On the eve of that round M.Ataev also won two awards (gold and silver medals). Thus, the participant in the Rio-2016 Olympic Games (Brazil) showed the best result in our team. Darya Semyonova has added to her collection one bronze and two silver medals today. She were second to finish in the 50-meter backstroke and in the 4х50 meter complex relay, where she performed together with Lachin Ataeva, Keik Velieva and Enesh Begmyradova. Third place was taken by the 15-year-old swimmer of Ashgabat in the 100-meter breaststroke disciplene. Another bronze medalist was swimmer of our team Enesh Begmyradova. Now Turkmen swimmers are preparing for the Islamic Solidarity Games to take place from May 12 to 22 in the capital of Azerbaijan – the city of Baku.
