Air transport is one of the most dynamically developing modes of transport, whose importance grows with the increase in the structure of world trade of the proportion of ready and expensive products. Although the share of Turkmenistan's air transport in the overall structure of cargo transportation in the country is low, the Turkmenhovayollary Service is now actively increasing their volumes. For the first half of 2017, growth in cargo air transportation amounted to 23.7 percent. 29.3 percent more transit cargo was transported by air transport of the country, amount of import cargo has grown by 55.6 percent. The volume of export cargo transported by Turkmen aircraft increased 12-fold. Less than a year ago, on September 17, 2016, a new International Airport was opened in Ashgabat, which included a cargo terminal capable of handling 200,000 tons of cargo per year.
