The system of monitoring of the National action plan for human rights became a topic of the «round table» meeting

In the United Nations Organization representative office in Ashgabat the round table meeting devoted to realisation of the «national action plan for human rights in Turkmenistan for 2016-2020» took place. Representatives of the United National Development Program (UNDP) and members of a working group of the interdepartmental commission for maintenance of fulfilment of international obligations of Turkmenistan took part in it in the field of human rights and international humanitarian right. As it was underlined during the meeting, one of the key directions of the state policy is realisation of democratic transformations directed to protection of interests of citizens of the country, maintenance of their political, economic, social, cultural-humanitarian rights and civil freedom. Having ratified major conventions of the United Nations Organization, including those of human rights, our country undertakes practical steps on realisation of positions of the given documents. So, by special resolutions of the head of the state the «National action plan for human rights in Turkmenistan for 2016-2020», «National action plan in Turkmenistan for combat of human trafficking for 2016-2018», and also «National action plan for maintenance of gender equality in Turkmenistan for 2015-2020» were confirmed and are successfully realised. According to the new edition of the Constitution of the country accepted in the past year, with a view of maintenance of guarantees of state protection of the human rights and freedom and citizen the post of the ombudsman who is the authorised representative for human rights in Turkmenistan was founded. Thereupon an active work of the interdepartmental commission an important aspect of activity of which is implementation of norms of the international humanitarian right in the national legislation and law-enforcement practice was marked. Participants of the meeting discussed a number of proposals and recommendations, results of realisation concerning the expert assessment of the «National action plan for human rights in Turkmenistan for 2016-2020» and development of the system of its monitoring, according to modern requirements and international standards. In this context, efficiency of contacts with international organisations, first of all, with the United Nations and its structural divisions was outlined.
