Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan leaders discuss priority issues of bilateral cooperation

After one-on-one meeting of Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ilham Aliyev, the negotiations of the Government delegations of two states were continued in extended format. Speaking at the talks, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that the main purpose of current official visit is further consolidation of fraternal relations between two states and nations. During the meeting, the Sides plan to bring bilateral cooperation to quality new level and this collaboration meets not only bilateral approaches but to colossal potential of both countries as well. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that, first of all, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan stands for protection and consolidation of international and regional security and sustainable development. Steadfast and confident position of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan in this key issue makes great influence on the development of political situation in the Central Asia and Caspian Sea region. It was mentioned that in modern realities, our countries need to expand the partnership under the UN, OSCE, Islamic Cooperation Organization, CIS and other international and regional structures. Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are willing to continue coordinating their activity in international space rendering necessary assistance to each other. Turkmen Side is grateful to Azerbaijan for support and co-authorship of the UN General Assembly Resolutions adopted according to the initiatives proposed by Turkmenistan on permanent neutrality, establishment of new mechanism in energy security sphere and expansion of cooperation in sustainable transport. Interrelations in bilateral and multilateral formats serve as an important factor of making Caspian Sea as a sea of peace, good neighbourhood, concordance and beneficial cooperation. In this context, it was highlighted that joint work on the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea is coming to the end. It is expected to be signed during next high-level meeting of the Heads of Caspian states.
