President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon who arrived in our country for participation in the events dedicated to the opening of V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. Warmly greeting each other, the leaders of two countries had joint photo on the background of the State Flags of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed the gratitude to the Head of friendly country for accepting the invitation to participate in the opening ceremony of Asian Games and expressed the confidence that its conduct would be considerable contribution of the country to the development of the sports of high achievements. Having expressed the gratitude for the opportunity to meet again and to discuss in person the prospects of bilateral cooperation, high-rank guest congratulated Turkmen leader on the start of continental sport competitions and wished many victories to the participants. During the meeting, the Leaders of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan highly appreciated the level and dynamics of interstate dialog. Specifying the priorities of cooperation, the Heads of the states shared the opinions of broad spectrum of directions and discussed the realization of number of interstate economic projects. The interest in activation of the contacts in transport sphere, which received strong impulse by successful implementation of large project of construction of Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Tajikistan railroad, was mentioned. The sides also highlighted the productivity of activation of cooperation in the spheres of electrical energy, trade, oil and gas industry and agriculture, having noted an important role of joint Turkmen – Tajik intergovernmental commission. The Leaders of two countries confirmed the willingness for further consolidation of constructive partnership both in bilateral format as well as in collaboration under international organizations. Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Emomali Rahmon, having mentioned the similarity of the positions of many aspects, highlighted the importance of intensification of cooperation in provision of global energy security, consolidation of efforts in solution of current ecological problems. In this regard, the Head of Tajikistan highly appreciated international initiatives proposed by Turkmen leader for solution of rational water management issues. The interest of both countries in realization of joint projects in science and education, culture and sports and generally in expansion of the dialog in humanitarian sphere was also noted.
