On February 2, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov convened a regular video-selector meeting with participation of velayat khyakims to discuss top-priority objectives of the regions’ socio-economic development in the context of the comprehensive development programs ongoing in the country, the running year’s first-month results, the implementation progress of seasonal agri-works, as well as other important issues of state life. First speaker, Akhal velayat khyakim M. Nurmammedov reported on the state of affairs in the region, in particular, the outcomes of the work carried out in January 2015, the measures taken to tackle the assigned tasks in the agricultural sector, as well as to further improve the population’s social conditions. Focusing on the issues of the works under way in the agricultural sector, the President of Turkmenistan inquired about the amount of precipitation, soil humidity and the condition of young winter wheat crops. Hojamammedov informed about the situation in the country’s western region, last month’s work results, the agro-technical measures aimed to handle winter crops and prepare for sowing of agricultural crops. Having stressed the importance of taking into account the climatic conditions during the seasonal agri-works, the leader of nation has asked about the state of winter wheat crops in the velayat, and what harvest is expected to be delivered to the state grain reserves by farmers, given the amount of moisture available this season. In this context, having highlighted that there are also shortcomings in the preparation of farming machinery, the head of state has assigned the khyakim to responsibly approach the tasks on its repair and maintenance. Reporting on fulfillment of the assignments, given earlier by the head of state, Balkan velayat khyakim submitted for consideration by the nation’s leader the projects and location maps of a new shopping center being built by the Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Union of Turkmenistan in the city of Balkanabat, and a modern bus terminal, planned for construction in the region’s administrative center. After examining the presented projects and location maps, the head of state approved them on the whole, and commissioned to keep strict control over the construction progress and quality of all the works at sites of future objects. Orazgeldiev covered the situation in the region, the current year’s first-month social and economic indicators, as well as the ongoing work on tending winter wheat crops in accordance with agrotechnical norms, the steps taken to maintain and repair agri-machinery in the course of preparations for the cotton sowing campaign. Interested in the amount of precipitation in the velayat, the head of state has ordered to keep the implementation course of field operations under constant control, as well as the measures for ensuring normal growth of young crops. The President of Turkmenistan assigned to take a responsible and comprehensive approach to efficient organization of the cotton planting and to put on a fast track the work on repairing farming machinery. In his turn, Lebap velayat khyakim M. Joraev focused on the state of affairs in the region, the outcomes of the work performed in January 2015, the ongoing operations in farmlands of the velayat, the steps taken to improve the region’s social sphere and ensure timely and qualitative completion of the objects under construction. After the report, having asked about the amount of precipitation in the region, the nation’s leader highlighted the importance of taking a responsible approach to the agro-technical activities on tending young crops to ensure their proper growth and development. Having also stressed the need for accelerated preparation of agricultural machinery for the spring planting campaign, as well as its repair and maintenance, the head of state has emphasized that 83 percent of tractors and 70 percent of trucks are ready for the season at present. The nation’s leader noted the same inadequate level of readiness of other farming machinery and gave the khyakim a number of instructions on immediate improvement of the situation.
