On February 25, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Erlan Abdyldaev. The friendly country’s Foreign Minister has noted that the government of Kyrgyzstan attaches overriding importance to advancing cooperation with Turkmenistan, which demonstrates new approaches to tackling global present-day issues, while keeping high rates of socio-economic development. Similarity or concurrence of the two countries’ opinions on global-policy aspects, their mutual aspiration for long-term interaction are the factors, which favor steady development of the established productive relations in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. According to a shared opinion, the outcomes of the highly productive Turkmen-Kyrgyz summit meeting, held in Ashgabat in last year’s November gave new powerful impetus to the bilateral relations development. Having exchanged views on implementation of the agreements reached, the President of Turkmenistan and the guest have expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of the Turkmen leader to Bishkek this year will contribute to strengthening the centuries-old traditions of friendship and good neighborly relations between the two brotherly nations that fully support intensification of the multi-aspect international dialogue. Given the potential available for all-round expansion of the cooperation, initially built on the basis of mutual advantage and equality, the parties gave consideration to potentialities for advancing the interaction in a number of key directions, particularly in the trade-economic, fuel and energy, agricultural, communications, transportation, and humanitarian sectors, to development of which both states give priority. In this connection, the sides discussed the issues of holding a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and Culture Days of Turkmenistan in Kyrgyzstan. Having noted with satisfaction that all these years, Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic have been following the course of trust-based partnership and creation in the interests of the two countries and the region in whole, the head of state and his guest have expressed readiness of the parties for further diversified development of cooperation and implementation of new joint projects that will contribute to establishing closer relations and mutual understanding of the two friendly peoples. *** On February 23-24, political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic were held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During the consultations, special consideration was given to the issues of cooperation in the political, trade-economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The sides discussed the current state and prospects for the bilateral cooperation, identified concrete directions for further interaction, and noted prospects for the development and strengthening of the inter-parliamentary relations. Upon completion of the political consultations, the Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic held a meeting with young Turkmen diplomats and gave a lecture to students and teaching staff of the Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Turkmenistan.
