On April 13, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, who was on an official visit to the Republic of Korea, met with President of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Cho Dae-hyun in Seoul. During the conversation, it was emphasized that the Turkmen state is carrying out the goal-oriented, systematic work on the development of mass sports movement and sport of records. In the course of the meeting, which was held in the constructive and businesslike atmosphere, the parties gave consideration to the prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union in preparation and extensive coverage of the Asian Games. Over one hundred companies (the Union members) are expected to disseminate news items and reports from the Turkmen capital on television and radio channels in 62 countries with the audience of one billion people. As known, the issues had been discussed in detail during the International Conference “Asian Games-2017 – Turkmenistan’s Role in Sport for Development and Peace”, as well as at the International Sports Media Forum, organized in Ashgabat at the beginning of the month. Having confirmed common interest and readiness to enhance the established fruitful dialogue, whose most important direction is popularization of sport through capabilities of the mass media, President of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Cho Dae-hyun wished the nation’s leader and the entire Turkmen people peace, happiness, prosperity, as well as new remarkable achievements at prestigious international and regional tournaments.
