On April 15, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov made a working trip through the capital to visit the Motor Sport Center and become acquainted with the state of affairs at a number of buildings under construction in Ashgabat. In the morning, the head of state arrived by helicopter at the complex of motor sport facilities located in the northern part of Ashgabat. The President of Turkmenistan became acquainted with the types of motor vehicles of the Motor Sport Center, their specifications, as well as new sports cars delivered to the Center. In the course of his visit to the Center, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov took a ride on a sports bicycle, having demonstrated his excellent physical fitness and skills. Following the example of the head of state, all the senior officials of law-enforcement and military bodies took part in the cycle ride along the race course of the Motor Sport Center. Addressing the executives of military and law-enforcement agencies, the leader of nation noted the need to promote different kinds of sport among servicemen, regularly hold sporting events among the personnel, and keep all the related issues under strict control. Then, the leader of nation examined the sports cars, which were on display. As noted, new cars are regularly purchased for the Motor Sport Center. This makes for inflows of young people, who are willing to go in for motor sport. Among the displayed modern cars from well-known foreign manufacturers were electric cars powered by electricity. A distinctive feature of the cars is their environmental friendliness. Interested in the main technical characteristics and advantages of the vehicle, the head of state tested the electric car, having driven it along the race course of the Motor Sport Center. The electric car is a solar powered vehicle, and is very beneficial ecologically. As known, the issues of wide practical introduction of ecologically clean technologies are given careful consideration in our country. A range of large-scale measures aimed to protect the environment, ensure purity of the air, create the most favorable life conditions for the people, are realized in Turkmenistan on the initiative of the leader of nation. Then, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov assigned Interior Minister I. Mulikov to study the issues connected with purchase, advertising and mass use of ecologically clean cars of the kind in our country. Proceeding with his working trip through the capital, the President of Turkmenistan on board the helicopter familiarized himself with the implementation progress of work under way in different parts of the city. At present, accelerated construction of a number of different-purpose objects is well under way in Ashgabat. The presidential helicopter made a turn over the northern part of the capital. Among the capital’s large construction projects is the International Airport. As known, the first phase of the complex of facilities has been already put into operation. The new airport tooled with the latest modern technologies from world’s leaders, will have every condition created for operation and dispatch service, its staff, and passengers. The works at the site of this important infrastructure object are in progress in accordance with construction regulations and as scheduled. The airport, capable of handling 1,600 air passengers per hour, will be able to serve aircrafts of any type and load-carrying capacity at the international level. The project includes the construction of three passenger terminals, a new 3,800-meter runway, turn-off strips, aircraft parking spaces, a building of the air traffic control service. On board the helicopter, the head of state also examined Ashgabat’s streets, which are currently under construction, and the ones which have been completed, elevated road bridges. The leader of nation also became acquainted with the implementation course of works at the objects under construction within the framework of the 13th phase of the Ashgabat Redevelopment Program, in which the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan plays an important role. Then, the head of state, interested in the implementation progress at sites of the objects under construction in the capital’s southern part, as well as their specific features, proceeded to the “Mejlisler Merkezi” Congress Center. Having become acquainted with the ongoing work, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov placed accent on design peculiarities of the building. In continuation of the issue of the city’s improvement, the head of state expressed his dissatisfaction to the Ashgabat city’s khyakim R. Nurmammedov with the slow pace of the relevant work in the capital’s etraps, and gave a number of commissions on enhancing the efficiency of the measures taken in this direction. Then, the President of Turkmenistan arrived at the “Abadançylyk” Monument, which is now nearing completion. As noted, the “Abadançylyk” Monument has become a symbolic gift on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality. It is 47 meters high. The Monument is crowned with stylized contours of the Earth with an image of doves. This architectural composition symbolizes Turkmenistan’s adherence to the policy of peace, good-neighborly relations, and constructive cooperation, based on the status of permanent neutrality. The Monument is ornamented with olive branches, which symbolize the policy of peace, realized under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov. The President of Turkmenistan noted the advisability of holding opening ceremonies of the “Abadançylyk” Monument and a big number of other objects completed in different parts of the capital and timed to Ashgabat City Day celebrations on May 25. The leader of nation assigned the executives concerned to take adequate measures to ensure a high organizational level of the solemn opening ceremonies of the newly built objects, which would be ranked among the most fascinating and must-see sights of the country’s capital. After becoming acquainted with the construction progress of the facilities and roads there, the President of Turkmenistan, in particular, showed interest in design peculiarities of a pedestrian underpass. Walking through the pedestrian underpass, the head of state gave a number of commissions to the relevant executives on the quality of building materials used, and provision of every condition for the comfort of pedestrians. Having noted the necessity of taking a highly responsible approach to the realization of the Ashgabat Development Programs and execution of the works ongoing in the country’s capital in compliance with present-day requirements, the President of Turkmenistan wished everyone success in tackling the tasks assigned, and departed from the venue.
